Sushant Singh Rajput probably would have won India's first Oscar: Celina Jaitly

Actor Celina Jaitly grieved the sudden demise of Sushant Singh Rajput and stated that his death is a huge loss for the film industry. Speaking about depression, which Sushant was allegedly suffering from, she said that it is an illness that can happen to anyone.

Mumbai: The tragic death of Sushant Singh Rajput hasn't yet sunk in for model turned actor Celena Jaitly.

Mourning his death, Celina said that the industry has lost a "great talent." The Silsiilay actor further went on to shower praise for the departed soul. She said that Sushant had immense potential, so much so that he would have probably swept the board at Oscars.

"It is very sad because it is such a loss of such great talent. It is such a loss of somebody’s son, somebody’s loved one, someone’s brother and it’s a great loss to a film industry. A great talent who probably in the future would have won India’s first Oscar (as best actor), you never know. We will never get to know what capabilities someone like Sushant would have brought to the table," shared Celina.

The Kai Po Che! actor left for the heavenly abode on June 14. He was allegedly suffering from depression.

Shedding light on the chronic disease, the 38-year-old actor stated: "Depression is an illness and it can be triggered into its worst forms by the energies that surround you."

"Depression is a disease, it doesn’t choose people by their level of success or how they look or how rich or how poor they are. It can happen to anyone. It is not just a passing fancy – like people say my exam went bad and I am 'depressed'. Depression can happen at any age to anyone, it is a clinical disease and must be treated. One must get support system and it must not be ignored," she added.

The actor further shared that she had battled depression in the past after the death of her parents and her newborn son. Giving a shout out to her husband and doctors for helping her pass though the situation, Celina said: "I was surrounded by people who cared about me. My husband took great care of me. I got help from doctors. I’m not over it but I’m in a much better place."

The actor, who made her acting comeback with Season’s Greetings, is marred to Austrian entrepreneur and hotelier Peter Haag. The two are parents to eight-year-old twins Winston and Viraj and two-year-old son Arthur.
