Hyderabad: Baahubali fame director SS Rajamouli's upcoming film RRR is in its final stage of production to catch the October 13 release date. The makers, however, stand a narrow chance to release the film during Diwali amid the worsening COVID-19 situation in India.

According to a webloid report, film's unit still needs a considerable amount of time to wrap the shoot as few significant sequences with film's leading men Ram Charan and Jr NTR are yet to be canned. The makers aimed to wrap up RRR shoot by July 2021 but the plan is hampered by COVID-19 second wave.

The film boasts of an ensemble cast comprising Telugu stars along with Bollywood stars Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn. The period drama narrates a fictitious tale based on the life of Telugu freedom fighters, Alluri Seetharama Raju and Komaram Bheem. The film, rumoured to be riding a budget of over Rs 450 crore, is slated to releases in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam languages.

As of now, the much-hyped RRR and Ajay Devgn's Maidaan have both been confirmed for an October 13 release this year. The latest reports, however, suggest that the RRR makers may push the film to Makar Sankranti in January 2022.
