Sonu Sood tests positive for COVID-19 after first dose of vaccine

Bollywood actor Sonu Sood, who was recently made the brand ambassador for Punjab's anti-coronavirus vaccination programme, has tested positive for COVID-19. The actor had received the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine on April 7.

Hyderabad: Bollywood star Sonu Sood, who took the vaccine for COVID-19 prevention at a hospital in Amritsar, Punjab on April 7, has tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

Sonu shared a note on Twitter to announce the news. The 47-year-old actor, who catapulted to the national spotlight for helping migrants reach their home states during the nationwide lockdown last year, said he will continue his work for those in need.

The note read, "This is to inform you that I have tested positive this morning for COVID-19. As a part of precautions, I have already quarantined myself and taking utmost care."

He further wrote, "But don't worry, this gives me ample time to solve your problems. Remember, I'm always there for you all."

Sood took the vaccine for COVID-19 prevention at a hospital in Amritsar, Punjab earlier this month. The actor also launched Sanjeevani: A Shot of Life, an initiative to encourage people to get vaccinated and raise awareness. Sonu, the Messiah of the migrants who refuses to call himself so, has been in the limelight because of his philanthropic work for migrant workers amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
