Mumbai: After COVID-19 positive singer Kanika Kapoor has been under a volley of criticism for hiding her travel history, actor Sonam Kapoor came to her defence and put a gag on haters by pointing the day singer arrived, India was not self-isolating, rather was busy playing Holi.
"Hey guys @TheKanikakapoor came back on the 9th. India was not self-isolating but playing Holi," Sonam wrote on her Twitter handle.

Her tweet didn't go well with netizens, trolls followed down stating that she is just defending her close friend.
A user wrote, "Should we all personally thank Her for attending parties, skipping the protocols, endangering the lives of many, including the President of India?"
"Saving your close friend," another wrote.
A user wrote, "You chose the wrong person and reason to defend."
Besides Sonam, Kanika also found support from veteran actor Rishi Kapoor. "Think. Chalo Delhi airport se to nikal gayi. Why an establishment like The Taj Lucknow Hotel didn’t have the facility to screen visitors? After all the Taj is a huge name and a property. Surely they could have detected!" Rishi wrote.

Talking about the what happened when she landed at India from London, Kanika told a leading daily, "So I reached Lucknow on March 11 by the morning flight. And one can check, at that time there was no advisory issued by the government on anyone travelling from abroad to be under self-quarantine. So how can one expect me to do it, especially when I had been screened and had no health issues till I left Mumbai? In fact, I developed the symptoms only four days ago."
