Mumbai: The Supreme Court on Monday has dismissed the plea seeking a change in the title of the film 'Article 15' and a ban on its screening in India.
The petition was filed by Brahman Samaj, defended by advocate Ranjan Dwivedi.
A bench of Justices headed by Justice S.A. Bobde and Justice B.R. Gavai refused to entertain the petition that sought cancellation of the certification granted to the movie.
Drawing the attention of the court, the petitioner claimed that the filmmaker cannot use the title 'Article 15' for commercial gains, further adding that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has erred in issuing the certificate without considering the provisions of Emblem and Names (Prevention of Improper Use) Act.
The advocate also added that the content of the film was supposedly a false story. He also claimed that it had objectionable dialogues.
He went on to add that the film was likely to cause damage to the perception about 'Article 15'.
Upon cross-checking the information and finally finding nothing relevant, the court has dismissed their plea against the much talked about Bollywood film.
