Hyderabad: Southern star Samantha Akkineni, who recently bagged Best Performance Female at the latest edition of Indian Film Festival of Melbourne, was in news for dropping the surname Akkineni from her social media handles. Samantha simply changed her display name to "S" after removing Akkineni, which is her husband Naga Chaitanya's second name.
Removal of Akkineni on social media handles landed Samantha in a pool of speculations about her marriage. The actor, however, did not entertain the social media frenzy nor she found any need to clarify her stand. The chatter around her dropping "Akkineni" died down eventually only to resurface again as she in the latest interview was asked why did she do that.

In her latest interview with a film critic, Samantha was asked what was the reason behind the move, to which she said that she is not someone who would react to such "noise."

"The thing is, even with the Family Man there were trolls and even now these trolls (About dropping Akkineni), I don't react to them. That's how I've always been. I don't react to this kind of noise and don't intend on doing as well," she said.

The actor further said that she doesn't owe anyone any explanation. Recalling The Family Man controversy, Samantha said that everyone around her wanted her to say something as "there were 65k tweets hammering" her but she did not feel to speak up. The 34-year-old actor said that she is someone who "will not be bulldozed into saying something."
The actor also revealed that she will be taking a break for few months to rejuvenate herself before she starts listening to scripts for her upcoming ventures. The actor also said that she is looking forward to pushing the projects that she believes in and will aim to get associated with such films right from the beginning and not when the film is ready to go on floors.
