Rohit Shetty to donate part of Khatron Ke Khiladi remuneration to help cine workers

Filmmaker Rohit Shetty has come forward to help pandemic-hit cine workers. The Singham helmer has decided to use a portion of his remuneration from the currently-airing special edition of Khatron Ke Khiladi to support cine employees in Hindi film industry.

Mumbai: Filmmaker Rohit Shetty is pitching in to support cine employees in Bollywood.

The filmmaker, who also hosts Khatron Ke Khiladi, has decided to use a portion of his remuneration from the currently-airing special edition of the adventure reality TV show to support workers such as the junior artistes, background dancers, stuntmen, lightmen and others, by directly sending money to their accounts.

He started shooting for the special edition, titled Khatron Ke Khiladi: Made In India, from Sunday.

The season will be shot entirely in Mumbai, unlike past seasons that were mostly filmed in exotic foreign locales. The season will witness champions from previous seasons in action.

Contestants of the India edition include Karan Wahi, Rithvik Dhanjani, Harsh Limbachiyaa, Rashami Desai, Nia Sharma, Jasmine Bhasin, Aly Goni and Jay Bhanushali. It started airing from August 1.

Earlier this year, Shetty contributed to FWICE and the photographers who were homebound due to the lockdown caused by the COVID pandemic.

Earlier, Rohit had facilitated 11 hotels across the city to help on-duty personnel amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The hotels had been facilitated for coronavirus warriors to rest, shower, change, and arrangements for breakfast and dinner had also been made in these hotels.

On the film front, Shetty is all set with the next film in his cop drama universe, titled Sooryavanshi. The forthcoming movie features Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif in the lead. The makers are awaiting to cinemas to reopen as they are aiming for a theatrical release.

While there is no information yet on when cinema halls will reopen, multiplex chains have confirmed the release date of the most awaited films of the year.

"Exciting times ahead.. Gearing up to release Rohit Shetty's Sooryavanshi on Diwali and Kabir Khan's 83 on Christmas this 2020!," an earlier tweet by PVR Cinemas read.
