Mumbai: The lawyer representing relatives of Sushant Singh Rajput has said that actor Rhea Chakraborty's request to Home Minister Amit Shah for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) enquiry into the late actor's death is an attempt to gain the sympathy of people.

After Sushant's father K.K. Singh lodged an FIR against Rhea in Patna, accusing her of cheating and threatening his son, who committed suicide last month, the actor on July 29 moved the Supreme Court seeking transfer of the investigation to Mumbai.

Talking about Sushant's girlfriend Rhea, lawyer Vikas Singh has said: "Rhea Chakraborty requested Home Minister Amit Shah on Twitter to initiate CBI inquiry while Mumbai Police is still investigating the case. Her action suggests she was not happy with the procedure carried out by the Mumbai Police."

Singh further said that Rhea demanding a CBI investigation into Rajput's death is nothing more than playing "victim card to gain sympathy from people." He further added that she was "sure" that Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh is adamant on not transferring Sushant's case to CBI.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court is scheduled to hear a plea filed by Rhea on August 5.

Sushant and Rhea were in a relationship before the actor's death by alleged suicide on June 14. Sushant's father has levelled various allegations against Rhea, including taking money from his son and also threatening him to disclose his medical reports with the media. Sushant's family has also accused Rhea of keeping him away from his family.
