Hyderabad: Filmmaker Karan Johar on Friday announced the commencement of shooting of his new directorial, Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani. The film has a star-studded cast comprising Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt, along with veterans Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan and Shabana Azmi.
Taking to Twitter, Johar wrote, "The day is finally here & I have so many feelings going on in my head but what emerges at the top is - gratitude! As we begin our kahani ka first schedule, seeking all your pyaar & aashirvaad! It’s time to roll!🎥 #RockyAurRaniKiPremKahani #RRKPK

Film's leading man Ranveer also took to Instagram and shared the video. "Shuru ho gayi hai yeh anokhi kahani of Rocky & Rani. Toh dijiye humein apna aashirvaad aur pyaar, aur chaliye iss safar mein hamaare saath! #RockyAurRaniKiPremKahani #RRKPK," Ranveer wrote alongside the video.

The film, which marks Johar's return to feature-length direction after the 2016 romantic drama Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, also stars Hindi cinema veterans Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan and Shabana Azmi.
This will be the first time Dharmendra and Azmi will be working with Johar, while Bachchan had famously starred in the filmmaker's 2001 blockbuster Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham....While Johar directed Bhatt in her 2012 debut movie Student of the Year, the new movie will mark the first collaboration between the filmmaker and Singh. Johar and Singh were earlier supposed to collaborate on the historical drama Takht, which has been reportedly shelved.
