Mumbai: Rakhi Sawant was honoured with the prestigious Phalke award for 'Best Item Dancer' in Bollywood. The actress-dancer who has done around 75-100 item songs in all languages said that she is grateful to God as she has achieved her first award in the industry.
On winning the award, Rakhi said, "Thank God! now even item girls are getting awards. I have done 75-100 item songs including many reality shows but never got an award despite being nominated. I am very happy as I worked really hard and finally I received an award for my labour."
"This is the best award and I am really proud of it," she added.
Rakhi was even asked if she purchased the award, on which she said, "I don't have that much money to purchase the award. I had only my performance. The jury might have thought that I am in the industry for 12 years still I haven't received an award although all of my songs are hit."
She went on to say, "It feels great to have this sort of validation to your hard work. It motivates you to work harder."
Recently, Rakhi made headlines when she posted a picture along with Pakistani flag which went viral on social media.
