Hyderabad: After the success of 'Chi La Sow', south actor-filmmaker Rahul Ravindran is back with his second directorial venture 'Manmadhudu 2'. The film has created huge buzz much before its release for all the right and wrong reasons.
'Manmandhudu 2' teaser has put the makers under the scanner for its bold idea and depiction. The movie featuring Nagarjuna and Rakul Preet Singh revolves around a rare love story between an elderly man and much younger woman.
In a recent interview to a leading newswire, Rahul said that the clothes Rakul wears in the film are organic to her surroundings and it shouldn't be seen with hungry eyes. While he has only tried to portray her character the way it is, he has no control over how it is perceived by the audience.
Rahul said that Avantika's character (Rakul Preet Singh) has been put out that way only because of the story's demand rather than just for the sake of milking glamour.
Rahul and his wife Chinmayi Sripaada are being called out for their double-standards. When Chinmayi shared the teaser of 'Manmadhudu 2' trolls were quick to attack her for Rakul's smoking scene, her dressing sense and Nag's casanova image glorified in the teaser.
Earlier, Chinmayi, who is quite active on Twitter openly slammed 'Kabir Singh' director Sandeep Vanga Reddy for his distasteful views on love.
She wrote, "If a man is deeply connected with you - He will NEVER LAY HIS HANDS ON YOU. He will NEVER slap you. He will NEVER TOUCH YOU without your consent. Women (and young boys) have been told for aeons that being beaten up is a sign of Love* / *Discipline* IT IS ABUSE! (sic)"
Later, the singer was slammed for promoting 'Manmadhudu 2' teaser which shows a lot of lip-locking scenes. The trolls targeted her for having biased views towards her husband's film, while earlier she criticized a similar concept.
'Manmadhudu 2' is a sequel to Nagarjuna's 2002 superhit film of the same name. In the movie, the actor plays a character who hates women which is contrary to his role in the second part.
The movie is slated to release on August 9.
