Mumbai: Putting all speculations to rest, producer Arun Pandian on Wednesday confirmed that the Tanu weds Manu actress Kangana Ranaut has never been approached to cast her in the Hindi remake of Aadai.

Though the producers have clarified that they are venturing into producing the remake of the Tamil thriller.

Producer of A&P group Arun Pandian said: "We are venturing into Bollywood with the Hindi remake of Aadai. We are planning to do it with a very popular star."

He further stated: "Contrary to some reports, we have not approached Kangana Ranaut for the project. The director and the rest of the crew will be finalised soon."

The producer has acquired remake rights of the thriller drama Aadai in all languages.

Helmed by Rathna Kumar, Aadai featured Amala Paul in the titular role.

Originally produced by SK Studios, the film also featured Vivek Prasanna and Ramya Subramanian in pivotal roles.

The story unfolds over a single night when Amala as Kamini, who plays the free-spirited Kamini, wakes up naked in an abandoned building after a party.

Despite courting controversy on its bid to define what really constitutes freedom, Aadai won acclaim for the way its protagonist crushed every trope associated with the depiction of the mainstream Tamil heroine.

Though the film was widely appreciated by critics, it failed to click at the box office.
