Hyderabad: Bollywood actor Dia Mirza smashed patriarchy by having a female priest and saying no to Kanyadaan and Biddai when she tied the knot with Mumbai-based businessman Vaibhav Rekhi last February. The actor has yet again shown the door to patriarchal rituals with the first Raksha Bandhan celebration of her son Avyaan Azaad.
On Sunday, Divya took to Instagram to shares a string of endearing pictures of Rakhi celebration. The first picture on Instagram shows her stepdaughter Samaira Rekhi trying rakhi to little Avyaan while her wrist also flaunts a rakhi with her initial of her name in Hindi. Sharing the picture, Dia wrote, "Our first Raksha Bandhan 💛 We will love and protect EACH OTHER 💛@samairarekhi @vaibhav.rekhi #SmashPatriarchy."

Another picture on Dia's feed from the Rakhi celebration is a close-up of Samaira and her little brother's hand. Samaira is Vaibhav's daughter from his first marriage with Sunaina Rekhi, a yoga artist.

For unversed, Dia and Vaibhav announced the birth of their son Avyaan Azaad Rekhi in July. Dia shared the news with fans on Instagram with a long, emotional note. The actor posted a picture holding her son's hand. She informed her son was a premature baby born on May 14, due to complications in her pregnancy.
Dia and Vaibhav had tied the knot in February 2021 in an intimate wedding ceremony. The actor announced her pregnancy in April.
