Hyderabad: Director Rumi Jaffery, who recently met actor Rhea Chakraborty has said that people drew their own conclusions in the Sushant Singh Rajput matter. The director has also said that Rhea should get a fair trial.
Rumi was Sushant's close friend and shares a good bond with Rhea as well. The filmmaker was supposed to direct Sushant and Rhea in his upcoming film which was scheduled to go on floors in April 2020. During chitchat with a webloid, Rumi has said that he has stopped thinking about that film and as of now he is looking forward to the release of Chahre which will see Rhea's comeback onscreen after a strenuous time.

According to Rumi, the worst is over and Rhea will be headed for good times ahead. "I am confident she will get through this phase. Everybody around will advise you to be brave, but only the one going through [the ordeal] knows how difficult it is," said the director who recently met Rhea.

"Time is the best healer; with time, she will be fine. She is a talented artiste and will be ready to bounce back," Rumi further added.
Following Rajput's death in June 2020, Chakraborty was accused of abetment to suicide and siphoning money from his bank accounts. While the actor was subjected to widespread social media hate while still being interrogated by the NCB, CBI and ED. Back then, Bollywood celebrities like Taapsee Pannu, Farhan Akhtar, Vidya Balan, Anubhav Sinha and Dia Mirza had extended support to Rhea.

Talking about the media trails and support that Rhea got from a section of the film industry, Jeffery said, "People drew their own conclusions on the matter. Ideally, we should wait for the judiciary (to give its verdict). Every coin has two sides, but Rhea should also get a fair trial. I have the highest regard for those who supported her then."
It was initially thought that Sushant died by suicide, but a probe into his death is still on. On December 30 last year, the CBI told BJP Rajya Sabha member Subramanian Swamy that it is carrying out an intensive and thorough probe into the death of SSR.
