Mumbai: Actor Payal Ghosh, who recently levelled sexual harassment charges against filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, on Monday met Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Ramdas Athawale.
The Minister has pledged to extend support to the actor and asked Mumbai Police to immediately arrest Anurag Kashyap.
During the press conference, Athawale said: "She has dared to complain against Anurag Kashyap. Many actors came out in support of him, but Kashyap hasn't assaulted them. This is about Payal Ghosh and her experience. She will get protection from my party. We are hoping for action against the accused soon. I will be writing to Amit Shah soon. Kashyap should be arrested soon."
Taking to Twitter, he also wrote: "According to Payal Ghosh's arguments, Mumbai Police should arrest Anurag Kashyap. Otherwise we will protest soon."

Touched by Athawale's gesture, Payal thanked him on the micro-blogging site. She tweeted, "Thank you @RamdasAthawale Sir for standing by me and supporting me," along with pictures from the meeting at Athawale's office in Mumbai.

Last week, the actor had filed an FIR against Anurag Kashyap at Versova Police Station in the city, accusing him of sexual misconduct in 2014.
In an interview with IANS, Payal claimed that Anurag Kashyap stripped off in front of her and tried to molest her. However, Kashyap has denied all allegations.
