Hyderabad: Taking inspiration from the men's team that got into the medal rounds after a gap of four decades, Indian women's hockey scripted a historic moment of their own by making their maiden entry into the semifinals at the Tokyo Olympic Games on Monday. Celebrating the historic moment, celebrities like Taapsee Pannu, Vicky Kaushal, Neha Dhupia and others have lauded the team for giving the nation 'real Chak De India' moment.
Lauding the women hockey team, Taapse, who has played the sport in two of her films, Manmarziyaan and Soorma, took to Twitter and wrote, "Our chakk de moment never felt more real! While speaking to reporters outside Rajya Sabha, actor and Samajwadi Party MP Jaya Bachchan said, "I hope the women's hockey team advances to the final and win it, and make the country proud."

In what comes as a historic day and possibly the greatest moment for women's hockey in India, Gurjit Kaur scored the lone goal in the match during the first half through a penalty corner in a very tightly contested match.
