Mumbai: Akshay Kumar and Kiara Advani starrer Laxmmi Bomb is all set to release over a giant OTT platform, claimed several news sources. As the news surfaced the internet, netizens are divided over the decisions taken by the makers of the film.

While a section of netizens extended support to the makers, owing to the situation of lockdown, others expressed disappointment with the decision.

A social media user wrote: "I think he's right on his part. His overhead expenses on the film are increasing and there's no guarantee of audiences going to places where there is mass gathering. And also, it's not like Akshay won't make more films..."

Another user tweeted: "My request to @akshaykumar to support theatres and not release #LaxmiBomb directly on #OTT."

Just like all other industries, the film industry is currently at a halt.

A source revealed that the OTT giant has offered a huge amount to buy Akshay Kumar's Laxmmi Bomb.

The source told: "Akshay, director Raghava Lawrence and the producers are discussing the offer."

Moreover, "there’s a lot of post-production work left on the movie, including editing, background music, mixing and VFX."

"Since the team is working from home, the process is taking longer than usual. However, the makers are hoping to have the film ready by June. Although currently, the lockdown is on till May 3, theatres may continue to remain closed to ensure social distancing. In such a scenario, the team may consider having a direct-to-web release," said the source.

Amid all these, a host of memes have come up on Twitter. One of those read: "When Akshay Kumar decides to release #LaxmiBomb on OTT platform because of lockdown: Bilkul ricks nahi lene ka."
