Mumbai: The government of India will be honouring legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar with the Daughter Of The Nation title on her birthday on September 28.
The prestigious title will be given to the playback singer as a tribute to her impeccable contribution to Indian film music over seven decades.
Ace lyricist-poet Prasoon Joshi has also written a special song to mark the occasion.

A reliable source from the government informed that since Lata represents the voice of India, she will be officially designated as the Daughter Of The Nation on her 90th birthday.
"Modiji is a very big fan of Lataji's voice. She represents the collective voice of the Indian nation. Honouring her is to honour the daughter of the nation and that's what we will officially designate her on her 90th birthday," quoted the source.
Lata, also known as the melody queen has given some of the best evergreen tracks from the past including Ajeeb Dastan Hai Yeh, Tujhse Naraz, Lag Jaa Gale, Pyar Kiya Toh Darna Kya and Tere Bina Zindagi Se among others.
Mangeshkar has recorded songs in over a thousand Hindi films and has sung songs in over thirty-six regional Indian languages and foreign languages, though primarily in Marathi, Hindi, and Bengali.
