Hyderabad: After 'Gold' and '2.0', Akshay Kumar hits the bulls eye yet again. Akki's 'Kesari' turns out to be a huge money spinner at the box office and emerges as the biggest opener of 2019 so far. Read on to find out the first day collection of Akshay's latest outing which hit the screens on March 21.
'Kesari' is based on 1897 Battle of Saragarhi, in which 21 Sikh soldiers of the East India Company army fought 10,000 Afghan invaders. The film which chronicles a significant chapter from history seems to have struck a chord with the audience who has showered unadulterated love on the film and made it Akshay's second biggest opener, after 'Gold' which had opened with ₹ 25.25 cr in August last year.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared that with ₹ 21.50 cr, 'Kesari' has emerged as the biggest opener of 2019 so far. While the early occupancy was affected with limited morning shows due to Holi festivities, however there was an upward trend witnessing massive growth from afternoon followed by terrific occupancy in evening shows.
For the opening day business, Akshay's film has zoomed past 'Gully Boy' (₹19.40 cr), 'Total Dhamaal' (₹ 16.50 cr), 'Captain Marvel' (₹ 13.01 cr).
Directed by Anurag Singh, 'Kesari' also stars actress Parineeti Chopra.
