Mumbai: Soon after filmmaker Rohit Shetty announced his next venture 'Sooryavanshi' featuring Akshay Kumar in the lead, fans have been curious to know about the leading lady of the film. There were even speculations that Jacqueline Fernandez and Katrina Kaif had been approached for the role. However, the latest reports suggest that the makers have finalized Kat to play the female lead.
Rohit's blockbuster 'Simmba' held a double bonanza as its climax featuring Ajay Devgn and Akshay Kumar as a surprise package.
Following the stupendous success of the cop-drama, the filmmaker announced the filming of 'Sooryavanshi', an extension of 'Simmba' raising fans' excitement.
Earlier, rumour mills were abuzz that Jacqueline has been considered to play the leading lady. Also, Katrina was also said to be in talks for the role. However, the makers locked in Kat for her crackling chemistry with Akshay in their previous hits like 'Namastey London', 'Singh Is King', 'Welcome' and 'Humko Deewana Kar Gaye'.
'Sooryavanshi' will mark onscreen reunion of Akshay and Kat almost after a decade. Their last film together was 'Tees Maar Khan' released in 2010.
Moreover, reports also suggest that since Katrina had showcased her action streak in films like 'Tiger Zinda Hai' and 'Ek Tha Tiger', the actress was an apt choice for the film.
Although there has been no official confirmation as of now, fans might be already excited to see the onscreen reunion of the hit pair in the upcoming cop-drama.
'Sooryavanshi' is the third film in the cop series after 'Singham' and 'Simmba', both of which was a huge success.
Bankrolled by Karan Johar, the movie is slated to release on Eid 2020, clashing with Salman Khan and Alia Bhatt-starrer 'Inshallah'.
