Kartik has given nod to Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota helmer Vasan Bala for his upcoming directorial venture which is said to be a superhero flick. According to a leading webloid report, the Punchnama boy is all set to explore the superhero genre with Vasan's adaptation of the comic book character Phantom, a crime-fighter who operates from the fictional country of Africa, Bangalla.

After doing a string of romantic comedies, Kartik is apparently trying to push himself as an actor. For the first time in his a decade long career, Kartik will be seen in a thriller and the reports of him signing superhero film confirm that now he is focused on picking up varied roles than following tried and tested formula.

Vasan's film with Kartik will be bankrolled by Ronnie Screwvala and was initially scheduled to go on floors in the second half this year. The makers will now be chalking out a new plan after the delay caused by COVID-19 pandemic.
Kartik has started shooting for his next film, Ram Madhvani's Dhamaka in which he will be seen playing a journalist. The film, which will be produced by Ronnie Screwvala's RSVP and Ram Madhvani Films with Co-Producer Amita Madhvani, gives a bird's eye view into the working of a news channel.
