Kannada actor Ragini Dwivedi's police custody has been extended for five more days. She was arrested on September 4 by the Central Crime Branch for her alleged involvement in a major drug racket.

Bengaluru: A court here on Monday extended the police custody of Kannada film actor Ragini Dwivedi, who was arrested under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, by five more days.

The Central Crime Branch of Bengaluru had presented her before the ACMM court through video conference as her police custody got over on Monday.

"Today Ragini was produced to the Court and on CCB request, the court has granted five days police custody of Ragini," Bengaluru Joint Commissioner Sandeep Patil said in a statement.

According to a senior officer, Ragini was earlier taken into police custody for three days which ended today. "We requested the first ACMM court to grant her police custody for 10 days, but the court has given her custody for five days," the officer said.

The actor has not been cooperating with the investigation warranting the police to seek her custody for another five days, said sources.

Sources also added that the actor had deleted all messages from her mobile phone in a bid to wipe out the digital evidence.

However, the CCB officials managed to retrieve the data.

Additional Commissioner Sandeep Patil revealed that they have nabbed another accused named Niyaz in connection with the case. Niyaz hails from Kerala, but he has been living in Bengaluru for five years now.
