Mumbai: After a long wait, actor Kangana Ranaut has begun preparing herself for the upcoming flick Dhaakad.

On Friday, the actor took to her social media handle and gave a glimpse of her virtual script reading session.

Hopping on to Twitter, the Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi shared a couple of screenshots while she was having a video conference with film's director Razneesh Ghai, writer Ritesh Shah and producer Sohail Maklai.

"It's a virtual script reading session for #KanganaRanaut, @RazyGhai, @writish and @SohailMaklai as they start preparing for #Dhaakad. #LockdownScriptSessions," wrote Kangana's social media team on Twitter.

Dhaakad is touted to be a high-octane one-of-a-kind female-led action drama.

Speaking about the film, Kangana earlier said in a statement: "Dhaakad is not only a benchmark film for my career but will be a turning point for Indian cinema as well. The film is mounted on a large scale, is one-of-a-kind female-led action film, and is apt for a Diwali release. If it is received well, there will be no looking back for women in Indian cinema."

Early this year, as the news of Dhaakad being shelved broke out, the film landed into a controversy after filmmaker Ahmed Khan was reportedly quoted saying that women-led action films perform poorly at the box office. Citing the example of Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi, Khan alleged that due to its failure, Dhaakad was shelved.

However, the director of the film confirmed that there was no truth to the news of Dhaakad being shelved.
