Kajol, Tanuja, Tanisha kick-off Durga Puja celebration, uphold integrity

Radiating the festive fever, the Baazigar actress Kajol kickstarted her puja celebration with much fervour and zeal.

Mumbai: The much-awaited grand festival Durga Puja is finally here! Kickstarting the Puja celebrations, actor Kajol with mother Tanuja and sister Tanisha Mukerji offered prayers at the pandal.

Marking Shashti, the first day of the festivities, Kajol, Tanuja and Tanisha stepped out in style.

While the Kuch Kuch Hota Hai actress went for a red ethnic ensemble, sister flaunted beautiful pink saree.

Meanwhile, the actress shared their Shashti lookbook on Instagram. Alongside the picture, she wrote: "First day of the pujas ... shoshti. Before we share it with everybody else..."

Speaking about her belief in the goddess, Kajol said: "The family in which I am married, they are all staunch believers in Durga."

She further added: "But I believe that every day is Durga's and we celebrate each day with full fervour."

Speaking about recycling the goddess' statue every year, Tanisha said: "One thing - when we celebrate any festival, we need to keep the environment in mind because it is getting very ruined. And for this reason, our statues are recycled every year."

Speaking about the tradition and culture, the veteran actress Tanuja said: "The traditions of our country are very important and if we fail to keep them alive, then India won't be the same anymore."

She further stated: "I was taught by my mother-in-law that loving your dear ones is necessary and Durga Puja is one occasion that unites us all. There is no religion here and anyone is welcome here."
