Mumbai: B-town's Dabangg Salman Khan has been enjoying a humongous fan following for almost three decades now. He is also one of the most bankable stars in the industry despite a slew of flops in his career. However, like every star fades away after a time, will his spark also perish?

According to a leading newswire, Salman was asked if he is prepared for the time when his films may not be able to rule the box office. The superstar said, "It will take really long. I guess a few years more, 30-35 years."

Since the new-age audience prefers content over star-value, it's not easy to pull the audience towards theatres merely on stardom.

Speaking on the same, Salman said, "It (stardom) does fade away with time. It is a huge task to keep it going for a long time. I think Shah Rukh, Aamir, Akshay and I are the only ones who have been able to put up with it for such a long time."

The 'Tiger Zinda Hai' actor said that he would try his best to maintain his stardom for some more time. He also said that he knew stars whose box office collection reach 8 to 10 per cent in later years of their career.

He further said that he didn't think that his downfall had started yet, though it was going to happen someday.

Salman marked his debut with Biwi Ho To Aisi (1988) followed by a big break in Sooraj Barjatya's Maine Pyar Kiya (1989) as a lead actor.

In a career spanning over three decades, Salman has worked in over 100 films. The actor has given some of the biggest hits including 'Hum Aapke Hain Kaun' which earned Rs 2 billion worldwide. The movie which also starred Madhuri Dixit became the highest-grossing Indian film of the 90s.

Meanwhile, Salman will be seen in Ali Abbas Zafar's upcoming film 'Bharat', starring Katrina Kaif as the female lead. The movie will release on June 5.
