Hrithik Roshan intensifies prep fo dreaded gangster role in Vikram Vedha

Hrithik Roshan will be seen playing a dreaded gangster in the Hindi remake of 2017 release Tamil superhit film Vikram Vedha. The neo-noir action thriller will also mark Hrithik's silver jubilee in films and for the same reason, the actor is making sure that it will be a film to remember.

Hyderabad: Bollywood superstars Hrithik Roshan and Saif Ali Khan will feature in the Hindi remake of the 2017 Tamil superhit film Vikram Vedha. The original starred R. Madhavan as righteous police officer Vikram while Vijay Sethupathi played the gangster Vedha. In the Hindi remake, Hrithik will play the gangster while Saif essays the cop.

For essaying the role of a gangster, Hrithik has intensified his prep. The 47-year-old actor is reportedly working on his physique, mannerisms and diction to do justice to the character of Vedha. Besides featuring him in the gray shade, the Vikram Vedha adaptation will also mark Roshan’s silver jubilee in cinema. For this very reason, Hrithik wants the film and his role to be memorable.

The film draws from the ancient lore of Vikram-Betaal, where a wily gangster manages to escape every time a determined cop nabs him, by narrating a new story drawn from his own life.

Earlier Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan was expected to play the character of Vedha. However, when Aamir backed out of the project the makes roped in Hrithik for the challenging part.

The Bollywood remake will be directed by Pushkar-Gayathri, who also helmed the Tamil original. The film, backed by Neeraj Panday, is expected to go on floors soon.
