The makers of the Telugu remake Jersey have announced shooting for the film will commence this December. Actor Shahid Kapoor will join the team despite him being unwell.

Mumbai: After Kabir Singh, actor Shahid Kapoor is back on track with his new project titled Jersey, shooting for which will begin on December 13, 2019.

Shahid has been under the weather for quite some time now. His doctor has advised him to put a hold on all work commitments and take bed rest.

A source close to the makers of the film said: "Shahid is a thorough professional and a man of his words. Therefore, even though the doctor had advised him bed rest, he tried to fulfil his commitments for a recent award ceremony to the best ability."

The source further added: "Now, keeping his health in mind, the shoot of Jersey will start a week later, on December 13."

Shooting for the film was scheduled to start last week.

The upcoming film Jersey is a Hindi remake of the Telugu hit that goes by the same name.

Originally helmed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, the Hindi version of the much-awaited movie will also be directed by him.

The story revolves around a talented but failed cricketer named Arjun who decides to make a comeback in his late thirties and play for India in order to fulfil his son's wish.

Besides the Kabir Singh actor, the Telugu remake also features Mrunal Thakur.

Presented by Allu Aravind, the Hindi version will be co-produced by Aman Gill and Dil Raju.

Speaking of Shahid, Gill said: "Shahid has a very professional approach towards work and he has always given his best. However, he recently fell extremely ill, and his health is of utmost importance to us."

"Therefore for him to recover fully we decided to delay the film's shoot by a week and now will start on December 13," he concluded.
