Go Modi! B-town lauds PM speech at Howdy Modi

As the 'Howdy, Modi!' mega-event kicked off at Houston's NRG Stadium on Sunday, scores of Bollywood celebs cheered for PM Modi on social media.

New Delhi: Many Bollywood celebs like Salman Khan, Anupam Kher, Rishi Kapoor, Karan Johar among others gave a big shout-out to Prime Minister Narendra Modi as he addressed 50,000 people from the Indian-American community on Sunday evening at the mega event, Howdy Modi.

Taking to Twitter, Salman wrote, "Way to go PM Modi and Prez Trump for a great association between the 2 nations. . . Narendra Modi and Donald Trump."

As the audience at Houston showed their excitement by chanting "Howdy Houston! How's the josh"..High Sir!", Anupam Kher resonated the same in his tweet.

"Houston mein Josh Kamaal ka hai!!! #HowdyModi Zindabad," tweeted the 64-year-old actor.

Escatic over the event, Rishi Kapoor exuded his happiness in his tweet hailing the two great leaders of democracy.

He wrote, "#howdymodi "Go Modi" - "Go Trump" - Houston, US. Proud of our being. Proud of the community. Proud of India."

Filmmaker Karan Johar hailed Modi's speech as he wrote, "Proud moment for India and fellow Indians across the globe. What an inspiring and solid address by @narendramodi. @POTUS also in awe as crowd cheers for the Indian prime minister."

Thanking Modi for making every Indian proud, actor Vivek Oberoi tweeted, "Triumph over Trump! Our hearts swell with pride and are won, once again! Statesmanship at its best. A big thank you to @narendramodi ji for making us all extremely proud to be an Indian. We had all only imagined this, you turned it into reality. Jai Hind."

Actor Randeep Hooda also tweeted, "Proud to be an #Indian all over again .. #IndiansAroundTheWorld are a great contributing community to all countries they adopt as home. #HowdyModi."

Filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar also congratulated PM Modi while referring to the event as historical.

"What a spectacular and historical moment to watch two of the world leaders and heads of the two biggest democracy Shri. @narendramodi and @realDonaldTrump on one stage. Hope to see stronger ties between the two nations in future," he wrote.

The community summit, the first of its scale, was held at the NRG Stadium in Houston in honour of Modi, who is currently in the United States on a week-long official trip to address the UN General Assembly, amongst other important engagements.

The event was envisioned on the theme of 'Shared Dreams, Bright Future' and focussed on strengthening Indo-US relationship.
