Diljit gains close to 5 lakh Twitter followers amid spat with Kangana

The Twitter war between Diljit Dosanjh and Kangana Ranaut continues to be tweeple's latest obsession. The Punjabi singer-turned-actor seems to have earned netizens' respect by standing up for the farmers and calling out Kangana.

Mumbai: Punjabi Singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh locked horns with Bollywood star Kangana Ranaut on Twitter over farmers' protest. From December 2, the two have been engaged in a Twitter war which is seemingly won by Diljit as he has reportedly gained close to 5 lakh followers on the microblogging site.

Though in Punjabi his tweets have apparently resonated with the Twitterati. Consequently, in the past two days, there has been a spike of nearly 5 lakh followers on his Twitter handle.

Reportedly, Diljit had 3.8 million followers until December 2 and gained close to 5 lakh followers on the microblogging site in just two days. The main reason for the spike is believed to be his ongoing spat with Kangana. The Highway actor remained in the trends throughout Friday with hashtags #DiljitVsKangana and #DiljitDestroysKangana topping the trends.

It all started when the Soorma actor criticised Ranaut for misidentifying an elderly Sikh woman, who had joined the farmers' protest, as Bilkis Bano of Shaheen Bagh. He also shared a video of the elderly lady in question, revealing that she was Mahinder Kaur. Soon, Kangana deleted her post but didn't refrain from hitting back, calling Diljit filmmaker Karan Johar's pet. To which, the Good Newwz actor asserted that he is not from Bollywood but Punjab, and will not take her attack and give it back with more power and also called Kangana mannerless.

As the verbal fight got nasty, actors Angad Bedi, Shruti Seth, Kubbra Sait, Swara Bhasker and filmmaker Hansal Mehta came out in support of Diljit.
