Days after the violence occurred at the JNU campus in Delhi, actor Deepika Padukone visited the university today to express solidarity with the students who were protesting at the national capital.

Mumbai: Actor Deepika Padukone on Tuesday joined the students at the Jawaharlal Nehru University in Delhi to protest against the recent violence that took place at the campus.

Expressing solidarity, she stood with the students at the Sabarmati T-point which is the epicentre of the protest.

In a recent interview, the Padmaaavat actor addressed the violence at JNU campus, saying "I feel proud to see that we aren’t scared to express ourselves... I think the fact that we are thinking about the country and its future... Whatever may be our point of view, it’s nice to see."

The actor has been in the national capital for a couple of days for promoting her forthcoming film titled Chhapaak.

Earlier on Monday, scores popular faces from Bollywood including Vishal Bhardwaj, Anurag Kashyap, Zoya Akhtar, Taapsee Pannu, Richa Chadha, Dia Mirza and Anubhav Sinha among others roared up at the Carter Road in Mumbai to extend their wholehearted support to the protestors.

JNU has been broiling in raging violence since Sunday when a group of masked miscreants thronged at the campus and assaulted the students with sticks and metal rods at the Sabarmati Hostel.

The JNU administration and leaders, cutting across political lines, have condemned the attack on students and urged the police to take action against the perpetrators.
