Mumbai: Actor Deepika Padukone, who is awaiting the release of her upcoming film Chhapaak, joined an online video making platform popularly known as TikTok on Saturday.
Immediately after her debut, the Piku actor posted several video clips along with Laxmi Aggarwal who happens to be the inspiration behind her role in the film.
Taking the social media world on a swirling ride, the actor announced her debut on TikTok through her Instagram stories.
In no time, the count of her followers reached nearly 2 million.
The actor has posted six videos on the platform and out of the six, three featured campaigner Laxmi Aggarwal, who after braving an acid attack at an age of 15, started campaigning about the issue.
Padukone's upcoming film Chhapaak is a biographical drama based on the life of Aggarwal.
In other videos, the actor was seen dancing with other TikTok celebrities. She was even seen rapping in one of the videos.

It is safe to say that the move by the actor can be seen as a promotional spree for the film Chhapaak. The motion picture is set to hit the big screens on January 10, 2020.
Helmed by Meghna Gulzar, Chhapaak revolves around the struggles and triumph that Laxmi Agarwal went through.
The film also stars Vikrant Massey in a pivotal role whose character is based on Laxmi's partner and social activist Alok. The film will also mark the first stint of Deepika as a producer. It is bankrolled by Fox Star Studios.
