The Indian music industry is incomplete without legendary singer Mohammed Rafi. Between the 1950s and 1970s, the impeccable singer used to be every music director's favourite. It's been 40 years since Rafi Saheb passed away. Mohammad Rafi, the brightest star in the Indian music industry passed away on July 31, 1980. On the occasion of his death anniversary, let's rewind some of his evergreen tunes.

Mumbai: Today marks the 40th death anniversary of the jewel of Indian music industry Mohammed Rafi. Born in a middle class Muslim family, on December 24, 1924, Rafi's inclination towards music was influenced largely by a Fakir, whom the singer used to listen with great adulation. The brightest star in the galaxy of Indian music bid adieu to the world on July 31, 1980. Forty years after his death, his majestic voice still resonates in the ears.

On his death anniversary, let's take a look at some of his memorable songs.

The song Khoya Khoya Chand Khula Aasman from Vijay Anand's Kala Bazar was filmed on Dev Anand and Waheeda Rehman. Released in 1960, the song still manages to be one of the audiences' favourites.
