While Bhansali was preoccupied with Heera Mandi, the reports of the male casting of Baiju Bawra started doing rounds of the tabloids. Ranbir and Kartik's names also made the headlines but it was Ranveer who was being seriously considered for the lead role which was played by Bharat Bhushan in 1952 released Baiju Bawra.
The upcoming film will mark Ranveer and Bhansali's fourth collaboration after Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela (2013), Bajirao Mastani (2015) and Padmaavat (2018). The makers are yet to decide on who will be playing the roles of Gauri, Baiju's love interest in the film.
