Mumbai: Actor Priyanka Chopra Jonas is all set to play the role of Ma Anand Sheela in the upcoming biographical film tilted Sheela.
The biopic, directed by Barry Levinson, will be broadcasted over an OTT giant.
According to the reports of one of the leading news portal, Chopra will be seen essaying the titular character of Ma Anand Sheela, a spiritual adviser and the primary perpetrator of the 1984 Rajneeshee bioterror attack which happened in Oregon.
Sheela, the lady who ignited several controversies around herself, got back into the spotlight after the Netflix documentary series Wild Wild Country.
She was the personal secretary of Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh from 1981-1985 and managed the Rajneeshpuram ashram in Wasco County, Oregon.
The film to be jointly produced by Barry Levinson's Baltimore Pictures, Priyanka Chopra's Purple Pebble Pictures and David Permut's Permut Presentations and Jason Sosnoff. The story will be penned by Nick Yarborough.
Earlier, the one-time personal assistant of the controversial Indian guru Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh recently declared that she disapproves of Priyanka Chopra playing her part in her biopic.

Sheela further announced that she would prefer Alia Bhatt over the Baywatch star Priyanka to portray her character in the movie.
Speaking of Alia, Sheela said in an interview: "I feel she has the spunk in her that I had. Spunk is very necessary and it is very natural, it is not artificial, not cosmetic, it is genuine."
Supporting her statement she also said: "I saw bits of a film that my sister was watching, and I thought, I looked like her when I was young. I asked my sister, 'Did I look like her when I was young? Do you remember'? And she said, 'Yes, you do'."
