Hyderabad: Bollywood diva Katrina Kaif and Southern star Vijay Sethupathi are being roped in for Ramesh Taurani produced upcoming film which is reportedly titled Merry Christmas. The makers are waiting for the second wave of COVID-19 to subside to take the project forward.
Merry Christmas was earlier scheduled to go on floors by mid-May, but the makers will have to reschedule the filming because of the ongoing lockdown. Earlier reports suggested that the film is pushed indefinitely even before shooting commenced. Talking about the film's progress, producer Ramesh Taurani, however, told a webloid, "We are looking at June. Now the planning will happen, only after the lockdown is over. We don’t have a date as yet because everything right now is shut. We can’t even shoot anywhere else as 90 percent of India is in a state of lockdown. But in the near future, maybe in a week or two we will decide on the future plan of action."

According to reports, Katrina and Vijay starrer forthcoming film will be a straight 90 minutes watch without an interval. To fast-track work on this film, director Sriram Raghavan even put his big-budget movie Ekkis with Varun Dhawan on the backburner.

Earlier, Vijay had also shared an update on his film with Katrina and web series directed by Raj and DK. The superstar has said that the makers had to cancel the shoot which was to begin on April 15 after Katrina tested positive for COVID-19 on April 6. Vijay was also supposed to start shooting for the Amazon Prime Video web series directed by Raj and DK in May but the actor is not sure as to where it stands now. The show also features Shahid Kapoor and Rashi Khanna in lead roles.

The Tamil star is known for his acting chops, and he garnered acclaim beyond his home turf with the OTT-released film Super Deluxe last year. Vijay has signed two more Bollywood projects, Mumbaikar with Santosh Sivan and a silent film titled Gandhi Talks directed by Kishor Pandurang Belekar. As of now, it is not clear which film will mark Sethupathi's Bollywood debut as all three projects are stuck at various levels of production.
