Bollywood awards rigged? Here's what Vicky Kaushal has to say

Ever since the 65th Filmfare Awards got announced, there has been massive uproar on social media about the award gala being rigged. Vicky Kaushal, who was host for the event along with Karan Johar, shares his views on the backlash around one of the oldest awards of Hindi cinema.

Mumbai: Vicky Kaushal said that he is not aware of what goes behind finalising the winners list for award show. The Raazi actor also said that organisers have a jury that decides the winners and the decision should be "left to them."

Vikcy, who won his first Best Supporting Actor Filmfare for his 2018 release Sanju, shared his thoughts on how fair the award shows are in Hindi cinema.

While promoting his upcoming flick Bhoot – Part One: The Haunted Ship, Vicky was asked to express his opinion on the chatter around the Filmfare Awards on social media.

"This is not the first time that such controversy has emerged. The organisers of the award shows have their own procedure. They have a jury or panel of their own who decides who should be honoured," said the National Award-winning actor.

The 31-year-old actor also said that he is not well-versed on the various aspects of the award shows.

" I don't know what goes behind it. I go to the award shows like audience and except the honour if given and don't mind if not," he further added.

"I also don't know the math behind choosing the winner, but, we believe there is a jury that decides who should be the winner and we should leave the decision to them," concluded the actor.

Discontented over Gully Boy winning big at Filmfare Awards raged on social media, not happy with merely trolling the awards function, a netizen even vandalised the Wikipedia home page of the Awards.

While fans tweeted their ire, lyricist Manoj Muntashir declared that he is heartbroken over not winning an award for penning the heart-wrenching track Teri mitti (Kesari). He took to Twitter to announce that he would not be attending any award ceremonies for the rest of his life.

The 65th Amazon Filmfare Awards 2020 were held on February 15. Breaking away from a 64-year-old tradition, this year the awards will take place in Assam.
