Big B feels smartphones are the greatest invention of times

Drawing comparison between landlines and smartphones, Amitabh Bachchan on Saturday tweeted that the later has to be the invention of the times as it is running everything in the world today. Having said that, he also added that the new generation often fails to comprehend many things that belong to the bygone era.

Mumbai: Smartphones would have to be the invention of the times, feels Amitabh Bachchan.

"The 'wheel' has been dubbed as the greatest invention of all time... in today's times I would say the 'smartphone'..." the actor opined on Twitter.

In a blog entry, Big B shared his reasons. "The smartphone would have to be the invention of the times... it is running everything in the World today... whatever would we have done without it," he wrote.

Travelling down memory lane Big B shared memories of landline phones and, how these were the primary means to communicate with before cellphones came along.

"The finger dialling within rounded hole numbers was the luxury of the times... that and the Frig... it was 'the' possession if you had that line land phone in the house... difficult to afford for us at the time, and a privilege we never enjoyed for years..." he reminisced.

While a section of netizens appreciated his tweet, others replied with sour comments and even tried to troll him for his remarks.

On the work front, Senior Bachchan is awaiting the release of Ayan Mukerji's ambitious trilogy Bhahmastra. The film also features Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor alongside him.

The legendary actor will also star in Soojit Sircar's Gulabo Sitabo. The film also features Ayushmann Khurrana. For the first time, the duo will be sharing screen space in the Soojit Sircar directorial.
