Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Monday took to Twitter to thank Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan for their generous contributions to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund for rehabilitation work in the flood-ravaged western Maharashtra region.

Big B's contribution to flood affected Maharashtra made headlines after Fadnavis thanked him and Reliance Industries Limited on social media.

"Thank you Amitabh Bachchan Ji for your gesture of coming forward & contributing Rs 51,00,000 towards #CMReliefFund #MaharashtraFloods. This will inspire many to help & contribute in our rehabilitation efforts for flood-affected districts like Kolhapur, Sangli and Satara," Fadnavis tweeted.

The actor who feels really embarrassed talking about the charitable work he does, had earlier urged people to support flood victims of Western Maharashtra.

When people criticized celebrities who aren't donating their money to flood victims as most of time they come forward when such incidents happen in other states, Big B defended film fraternity.

Talking about criticism Bollywood celebrities are facing, Bachchan at an event had said: "It will be wrong to think that way. I feel a lot of people do charitable work but they don't talk about it and the media also doesn't know about it. I am one of them. I feel really embarrassed when I talk about my charitable work but people who are working towards minimising after effects of natural calamities know which celebrities have done their bit towards the cause."

On film front, Sr Bachchan next will be seen onscreen in Nagraj Manjule's 'Jhund', Ayan Mukherji's 'Brahmastra' and Shoojit Sircar's 'Gulabo Sitabo'.
