Mumbai: Veteran megastar Amitabh Bachchan recently donated Rs 51 lakh to Bihar chief minister's relief fund, as the state is facing an unprecedented deluge.
The torrential rainfall affected a dozen districts of the state including Patna, Kaimur, and Bhagalpur which are among the worst affected areas.
Amitabh wrote a letter to Bihar CM Nitish Kumar which read, "Indeed I am deeply stricken by the natural calamity that has hit the state of Bihar. My deepest condolences and sympathies to all whose lives have been affected in the recent flood."
It went on to say, "Albeit in a small way, I extend my helping hand to ensure in the restoration of human life in Bihar."
Beneath the typed letter, Big B wrote in his own handwriting, “Addraniye Nitish Kumar ji, Hamne CM Relief Fund Bihar me yogdan ka prachar KBC me bhi kia hai” (Respected Nitish Kumar ji, I had made an appeal for contribution in Bihar CM Relief Fund during my show 'Kaun Banega Crorepat'as well.)
The situation continues to remain grim in Bihar as 15 districts were flooded due to heavy rains in the state. Around 73 people have died and it is estimated that more than 20 lakh people have been affected.
Amitabh has always taken the initiative to help the needy. Earlier, Amitabh had donated Rs 51 lakh to Assam's chief minister's relief fund for the victims of the flood.
Apart from Amitabh, many entities have given monetary help to the state, doing their bit to rebuild it after the natural calamity.
