Big B 'deeply' grateful for Dadasaheb Phalke Award

Megastar Amitabh Bachchan who will be conferred with the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award expressed his gratitude for the feat on social media.

New Delhi: After a string of Bollywood celebrities congratulated Big B for Dadasaheb Phalke Award, the megastar expressed his gratitude on social media.

Taking to his Twitter handle, Amitabh Bachchan shared a sketch of himself in which he is seen with folded hands as a gesture of thanks.

He wrote, "T 3298 - There is a paucity of words searching a response .. for the generosity of words that pour in ..I am but deeply grateful and most humbled .. my sincerest gratitude .."

Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar on Tuesday announced the news on his Twitter on Tuesday.

Sharing the same, he wrote on Twitter, "The legend Amitabh Bachchan who entertained and inspired for 2 generations has been selected unanimously for #DadaSahabPhalke award."

As the news of Bachchan's latest glory surface on the internet, Bollywood celebrities including Abhishek Bachchan, Rajnikanth, Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhosle, Anil Kapoor, Karan Johar, Riteish Deshmukh, Vivek Oberoi, Arjun Kapoor, Ayushmann Khurrana, Huma Qureshi, and Kartik Aaryan congratulated Big B for the feat.

Through a career spanning over five decades, the actor has inspired generations with his diverse work. Some of his iconic films include Sholay, Shahenshah, Deewar, Zanjeer, Don, Sooryavansham among others.

The 76-year-old actor had earlier been bestowed with several National Awards and Civilian Awards including Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan among others.

In other news, senior Bachchan will be next seen in Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy alongside Telugu megastar Chiranjeevi, releasing on October 2.

Big B also has other films in the pipeline including Chehre, Gulabo Sitabo, Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy, Brahmastra and Aankhen 2.
