Mumbai: Ayushmann Khurrana has supported Priyanka Chopra after her tweet celebrating the Indian army's attack on Pakistan faced backlash by many.

In a recent media interaction, Ayushmann was asked to comment on Priyanka's matter after Pakistan Minister for Human Rights Shireen Mazari urged UNICEF to remove PeeCee as the Goodwill Ambassador.

Ayushmann supported Priyanka saying, "I guess Priyanka Chopra represents our country really well and she is not just an Indian icon she is a global icon. Being a daughter of an army officer, I believe she is truly a very good representative of India."

In a letter to UNICEF Executive Director Henrietta Fore, Mazari said, "Priyanka's support for war, including a nuclear war, undermines the credibility of the UN position to which she has been elevated. Unless she is removed immediately, the very idea of a Goodwill Ambassador for Peace becomes a mockery globally."

Other than Ayushmann, B-town stars including Kangana Ranaut, Anupriya Goenka, and Divya Dutta came out in support of Priyanka.

Anupriya Goenka said, "Priyanka is someone I really respect; she has put us on the global chart. I think that she deserves to be where she is today. And I believe if she has been chosen to be ambassador then there is a reason for it, that she signifies something. There are a lot of people, who look up to her, women and men alike in India. So, I think she is the best idol to have that way. Somebody who people look up to, therefore kudos for where she is today."

Divya Dutta also supported Priyanka saying "I will stand up with Priyanka for whatever she does and I think she has done very good job."

Earlier, Kangana Ranaut backed Priyanka saying that it's not an easy choice to choose heart over mind every day.

On February 26, Priyanka congratulated the Indian Air Force after Indian fighter jets attacked the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM)'s terrorist camp at Balakot in Pakistan.

Since the actor is also a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, she was severely criticized for encouraging violence.
