Mumbai: Bollywood actor Ayushmann Khurrana has started a movement #DontSayBhangi anymore as part of promotions for his upcoming film 'Article 15'.

The 'Andhadhun' actor uploaded a video clip on his Twitter handle from the film, where he is playing the role of a police officer.

The video starts with a young poor boy visiting the police station and serving tea to the policemen. Sushil Kumar, who has been assigned the role of a police constable, after taking a sip of the tea refuses to proceed further, stating it as 'Bhangi'.

He warns police officer Ayushmann not to drink the tea. Following the scene, Ayushmann shares the fact about how Article 15 in the Indian constitution struggles to spread a message about equality and pleads to the Indian citizens to collectively step forward in reinforcing the integrity of Indians by banning the usage of the word 'Bhangi'.

He wrote, "Galti toh kisi se bhi ho sakti hai, par hum kisiki tulna neechi jaati ke logo se kyun karte hai? Kya inke khilaaf apka yeh nazaria theek hai? Isse aaj hi badaliye. Sign the petition #DontSayBhangi, now."

The actor has taken an initiative by asking people to sign a petition so that the voices of the common man can reach the government, which in turn can be urged to take necessary steps towards eliminating the divide in the Indian society.

The film which is directed by Anubhav Sinha is based on the true-life event of Badaun rape incident where two teenage girls were gang-raped and ghastly murdered.

Apart from Ayushmann, Sayani Gupta, Manoj Pahwa, Kumud Mishra, Ashish Verma, Sushil Pandey, Subrajyoti Bharat and Mohammad Zeeshan Ayyub are also featured in the film.
