'Article 15' trailer: Ayushmann takes sharp dig at brutal caste system

After an intense teaser, the makers of Ayushmann Khurrana starrer 'Article 15' have released the trailer which takes on the brutal caste system in India.

Mumbai: The trailer of Ayushmann Khurrana's upcoming release 'Article 15' has been dropped by the makers on Thursday. The actor plays a strong-headed police officer in the film based on shocking true events.

The film is based on three girls who get gang-raped for asking an increment of Rs 3 in their daily wages. Following the rape, the criminals hang the victims on a tree delivery a message to their caste to not forget their limits.

The case is handed to Ayushmann for investigation who packs a punch in the role of a no-nonsense police officer with an intense brooding face.

In the trailer, Ayushmann also takes a dig at the divided caste system in India. In the end, he is seen talking to his senior officer stating the brutality of the criminals who rapes and kills three girls only because of their caste.

The film revolves around Article 15 which states that any individual or the state is not permitted to discriminate on grounds of religion, caste, creed, sex or birthplace.

'Article 15', helmed by Anubhav Sinha is loosely inspired by the infamous Badaun rape incident that shook the entire nation.

Five years ago, two teenage girls were gang-raped and gruesomely murdered by hanging them while they were still alive.

The investigative drama also stars Isha Talwar, Manoj Pahwa, Sayani Gupta, Kumud Mishra, M Naser, Ashish Verma, Sushil Pandey, Subrajyoti Bharat and Mohammad Zeeshan Ayyub.

'Article 15' is being produced by Benaras Media Works and slated to hit the theatres on June 28.
