Veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan welcomed his son and actor Abhishek Bachchan, with open arms, after he was discharged from Mumbai's Nanavati hospital, after testing negative for COVID-19 on Saturday.

Mumbai: Amitabh Bachchan is ecstatic at the news of son Abhishek finally getting discharged from hospital after almost a month. The Bollywood veteran took to his social media handle to welcome his son back home.

"Welcome home Bhaiyu... GOD IS GREAT," wrote the 77-year-old actor on his Twitter handle on Saturday afternoon.

"Abhishek tests negative for CoviD... discharged from Hospital... on his way home... GOD IS GREAT... thank you Ef and well wishers for your PRAYERS," Big B wrote in a separate tweet.

His post comes as a response to his son's recovery announcement on Twitter.

Post the tweet, his legion of fans and celebrity followers also extended well wishes to the actor.

Abhishek's Delhi-6 co-star Sonam Kapoor tweeted: "Ab you're the best... all my love to you."

While television host and actor Maniesh Paul wrote: "Thats supppppppper bro!! pls take care."

Earlier in the day, Abhishek thanked the medics and healthcare workers, saying: "My eternal gratitude to the doctors and nursing staff at Nanavati Hospital for taking such good care of me and my family and helping us beat Covid-19. We couldn’t have done it without them."

Amitabh and Abhishek Bachchan were admitted to Nanavati hospital on July 11 after testing positive for the deadly virus. While Big B was discharged on August 2, Abhishek had to undergo treatment for another week till he tested negative.
