Mumbai: Superstar Akshay Kumar and filmmaker Priyadarshan have joined hands for a comic thriller. The upcoming film is one among the slew of Akki's already announced movies.
Priyadarshan and Akshay's bond is two decades old now. The duo started with Hera Pheri in 2000 and went onto work in films like Bhagam Bhag, De Dana Dan and Bhool Bhulaiyaa. Their last outing together was 2010 released Khatta Meetha after which the two never worked together.
In a recent interview, the filmmaker has revealed that he has roped in Akshay for a comic thriller. The shoot was supposed to begin from December but due to COVID-19 they had to chalk out a new plan and now the untitled film will go on the floors from September next year. Priyadarshan also shared that besides headlining Akshay will also bankroll the film.

In the same interview, Priyadarshan also quashed the rumours about his association with Hera Pheri 3 and said, "I am not involved with Hera Pheri 3. I have told the makers that I am not interested."
On a related note, Akshay awaits the release of Rohit Shetty's Sooryavanshi and Ranjit Tiwari's Bell Bottom. The actor is currently shooting for Anand L Rai's Atrangi Re and also has period dama Prithviraj on floors. Besides already announced Ram Setu, Raksha Bandhan and Bachchan Pandey, Akki is said to be playing a double role in filmmaker Jagan Shakti's upcoming sci-fi entertainer.
