Mumbai: Ajay Devgn has reportedly backed out from Luv Ranjan's next starring Ranbir Kapoor in the lead role. The reasons are cited to be Ajay's interest in other project featuring him as the central character.

Ever since Luv Ranjan announced his next featuring Ajay Devgn and Ranbir Kapoor, there has been a lot of buzz regarding the cast and shooting of the film.

After the news of the scrapping of the project, a new report suggests that though the film is happening, Ajay Devgn has opted out of it due to date issues.

According to a leading newswire, the Luv Ranjan's film has been pushed to mid-2020 as the final draft is being finalised. Since Ajay has a hectic schedule in 2020 with a string of projects lined up for him, the actor has backed out of the entertainer.

Sources also reveal that Ajay's main reason to leave Luv's film was Neeraj Pandey’s modern-day, socio-political drama, Chanakya in which he plays the titular role of a shrewd political strategist and global jet-setter, someone who is known as a modern-day Chanakya.

Moreover, Ajay was not happy with the script of Luv's untitled project which will also star Deepika Padukone opposite Ranbir.

However, there has been no confirmation from Ajay or the makers' end but if it is true then the film might surely suffer more delay or even get shelved as Ranbir is also quite busy for the next year.

While Ajay has films like Taanaj: The Unsung Hero, Bhuj: The Pride of India, Turram Khan, Maidaan and The Big Bull, Ranbir will be gearing up for Brahmastra and Shamshera.
