Hyderabad: Bollywood actor Emraan Hashmi opined staying relevant in the film industry is as tough a task as getting a breakthrough. The actor said one can’t become complacent in this business and 'every day is a struggle.'

Emraan, who has a busy year ahead was recently seen in the film Mumbai Saga while his next film Chehre is all set for release. Despite his years in the industry, Emraan recently said that actors have to keep their game up as there is a sea of new talent that emerges every year.

In a conversation with a leading daily, Emraan talked about how important it for him is to stay relevant in the business even after 18 years of his debut. "Every day and every year is a struggle. You just pray that you get another year to be here and to do some good work. It’s really testing. Even if you have a footing, you can’t become complacent in this business. You have to keep doing the punches and more so, now," said the actor.

Hashmi has a slew of interesting films lined up over the next months after a period of a slump in the recent past. Of late, the actor, who is aiming to steer clear of his image of 'serial kisser', has said that he is aware of the fact that actors of his generation have to keep up with the pace.

"With every year, there is a sea of new talent that emerges which only means that people from my generation have to keep our game up. You can never become overconfident about anything. It’s true for all of us. You have to keep at it. The only thing that I have understood is that if you are passionate about your job, you love the process of getting into a character and living it up, bringing it alive with all your effort, it will always pay off. That is the only mantra I have worked with," said the 42-year-old actor.

Emraan has the horror film Ezra lined up and unconfirmed sources have said he could play the villain in the Salman Khan-Katrina Kaif biggie Tiger 3.
