Aditya Roy Kapur's highest opener Malang mints nearly Rs 7 crore

Aditya Roy Kapur starrer Malang, directed by Mohit Suri, has garnered Rs 6.71 crore on the first day of its release. Breaking all his early records, Kapur's latest release has topped the opening collection of his previous movies at the box office.

Mumbai: Aditya Roy Kapur starrer action-thriller flick Malang received a mild response and grossed Rs. 6.71 crore on its opening day.

Breaking the records of Aashiqui 2, the romantic action thriller has become the highest opening film of the Kalank star until now.

Film critic and movie trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to Twitter to announce the news on Saturday.

Sharing the box office collection of the movie, Adarsh tweeted: "#Malang is decent on Day 1... Should've grossed higher given its genre... National multiplexes contribute 50%+ of Day 1 biz... Mass circuits low... Needs to show more than normal jump on Day 2, though biz in #Delhi will be limited... Fri Rs 6.71 cr. #India biz."

He further shared an account of the first-day collections of Aditya Roy Kapur starrer movies.

In 2013, Kapur's Aashiqui 2 grossed 6.25 crores. Daawat-E-Ishq that released in 2014 minted Rs 3.72 crores. The 2016 release Fitoor received 3.61 crores on its opening day, while 2017 release Ok Jaanu garnered Rs 4.08 crores. Kapur's 2020 release Malang topped the list Rs 6.71 crores.

Helmed by the Hamari Adhuri Kahani director Mohit Suri, the revenge drama features an ensemble star cast including Disha Patani, Kunal Kemmu and Anil Kapoor in pivotal roles.

The Mohit Suri directorial is jointly produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Luv Ranjan, Ankur Garg and Jay Shewakramani under the banners of Luv Films, T-Series and Northern Lights Entertainment.
