Hyderabad: Gauri Khan and Aaryan Khan jetted off to the US on Thursday from Mumbai. The mother-son duo is receiving flack from social media for travelling amid the COVID-19 crisis.

Maharashtra is facing an unprecedented surge in coronavirus cases and the capital city is among the worst-hit cities. Consequently, the state government has announced a complete lockdown. Earlier, during the time of Janta Curfew, many B-town celebs had left the city and were headed for exotic locations. From Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor to Tiger Shroff and Disha Patani, many celebs flew out of the city to exotic holiday destinations. Following the trend, now Shah Rukh Khan’s wife Gauri and her son Aryan have left for New York.

Gauri and Aaryan were spotted at the Mumbai airport on Thursday and as soon as the pictures and videos of them landed on social media, the two got trolled by netizens. One of the users wrote, "Under which essential services does these celebrities come? R we common ppl mad to sit at home and follow the protocols." Another wrote, "Bas inko ghoomnaaa dikh rhaa, desh or logon par itni mushibat aai hai or inko bhaagnaa hai, koi Maldives koi newyork😓😓😓😓." Taking a jibe at celebs' 'Stay home, save lives' message another user questioned, "What happened to staying home saving life’s 🤔."

This is not the first time celebrities are facing the wrath of social media over travelling during the pandemic. Earlier, Shobha De and celebrity manager Rohini Iyer too lambasted celebrities for travelling and flaunting their privileged life on social media while the nation is grappling with unprecedented challenges that the COVID-19 pandemic has brought.
