Telegram adds new features, allows moving chat history from other apps including WhatsApp

Over 100 million new users joined Telegram this January, seeking more privacy and freedom. But what about the messages and memories that remain in older apps? Telegram has come up with features that will help users to shift their chat history (both individual and group chats) including videos and documents from apps like WhatsApp, Kakao Talk, and Line.

People on iOS can move the chat from WhatsApp by simply doing the following:-

• Open the Contact Info or Group Info page in WhatsApp
• Tap Export Chat
• Choose Telegram in the Share menu

You can even export chats directly. Simply Swipe left on a chat, then choose '…' and then Export Chat.

Android users can move the chat from WhatsApp by following these steps:-

• Open a WhatsApp chat
• Tap More
• Then tap Export Chat and then choose Telegram in the Share menu

The messages and other documents that you transfer to Telegram, does not require extra space. However, if need be you can free up space and control your cache size in Settings, then click Data and Storage and the Storage Usage. Besides exporting, you can also delete messages which you send and receive for both sides. Call history can also be deleted at any time. All this gives you more control and secrecy. Telegram servers don’t store information about deleted chats and call logs, so the data will disappear completely, forever.

Telegram has also improvised the voice chats by which you can control the audio of individual participants. The improved audio player gives you the facility of checking the tracks from your chats. This you can do by tapping the author's name, while the track is playing. If you need to skip ahead or repeat something you missed, press and hold on the Next and Previous buttons to fast-forward and rewind.

You can use the greeting stickers while using Telegram. A greeting sticker will be suggested in your new chats, ready to send in one tap. In android phones, new animations are available when downloading files, playing music, or loading chats after logging in.

Now you can also report fake channels or groups that impersonate famous people or organizations. Open their profile page and tap '…' > Report > Fake Account. Many accessibility improvements have been added for both TalkBack and VoiceOver users.
